Cuốn sách này thể hiện hơn mười năm nghiên cứu và 10 tháng để dịch nó sang tiếng Pháp (gần 300 trang màu và 200 bức ảnh). Nó cũng là thành quả của sự cộng tác chặt chẽ với nhiều bậc thầy, huấn luyện viên, môn sinh và thân hữu.
Cuốn sách này chủ yếu dành cho các võ sư, huấn luyện viên và các thân hữu có trách nhiệm Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo trên toàn thế giới. Tất nhiên, nó cũng mở rộng cho tất cả những ai muốn biết thêm về nền võ học của Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo cũng như lịch sử của nó.
Sau đây là nội dung của sách :
Chương 1 chủ yếu tường thuật về thời trai trẻ của võ sư sáng tổ Nguyễn Lộc, sau đó là sự ra đời chính thức của Vovinam vào năm 1938, cũng như cuộc biểu diễn đầu tiên năm 1939 tại Nhà hát Lớn Hà Nội.
Chương 2 ghi lại một thời kỳ đen tối trong lịch sử Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo. Nó bắt đầu qua sự qua đời của võ sư sáng tổ Nguyễn Lộc (1960) và 4 năm cấm đoán dưới thời chính phủ Ngô Đình Diệm.
Chương 3 là thời kỳ hưng thịnh của Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo, đánh dấu bằng việc tạo dựng những cơ sở căn bản như thể chế, triết lý, hệ thống đẳng cấp, chương trình huấn luyện, võ phục, phù hiệu, v.v.
Chương 4 ghi lại thời kỳ phát triển vượt bậc của Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo (1964-1975) trong ngành giáo dục quốc gia, trong cảnh sát, quân đội, Bộ phát triển nông thôn và các cơ quan nhà nước. Giai đoạn này cũng chứng kiến sự xuất hiện của một thế hệ võ sư Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo tầm cỡ.
Chương 5 được dành cho các yếu tố lịch sử đặc biệt liên quan đến Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo như nguồn gốc của phù hiệu, nguồn gốc chức vụ Chưởng môn, tại sao phải trình luận án, nguồn gốc của các danh xưng "Vovinam" và "Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo" và hệ thống tổ chức của Môn phái từ khi thành lập cho đến ngày nay.
Chương 6 dành riêng cho tiểu sử của các võ sư đã qua đời, những người đã có công phát triển Vovinam-Việt Võ Đạo từ năm 1938 đến năm 1975.

Voici son contenu :
Le chapitre 1 est essentiellement consacré à la jeunesse du maître fondateur, puis à la création officielle du Vovinam en 1938 ainsi qu’à la premièredémonstration en 1939 au Grand Théâtre de Hanoï.
Le chapitre 2 retrace une période sombre de l'histoire du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao. Elle commence au décès du maître fondateur NGUYEN Loc (1960) et s’étend sur les quatre années d’interdiction par le gouvernement de NGO Dinh Diem.
Le chapitre 3 est consacré à la période florissante du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao, marquée par la création des fondements initiaux comme les institutions, la philosophie, le système des grades, le programme d'enseignement, les tenues, l'écusson, etc.
Le chapitre 4 retrace la période d'expansion fulgurante du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao (1964-1975) au sein de l'éducation nationale, dans la police, l'armée, au ministère du développement rural et dans différents corps d'État. Cette période voit également l’émergence d’une nouvelle génération de maîtres, d'hommes et de femmes les plus brillants du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao.
Le chapitre 5 est consacré à d'autres éléments historiques plus sectoriels, liés au Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao tels que l'origine des différents écussons, l’origine du titre de patriarche, la présentation de thèse, les origines des appellations "Vovinam" ou "Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao" et les l'évolution du système d'organisation depuis sa création jusqu’à nos jours.
Le chapitre 6 est exclusivement consacré à la biographie des grands maîtres disparus, ayant œuvré au développement du Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao entre 1938 et 1975.

Chapter 3 is devoted to the flourishing period of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao, marked by the creation of the initial foundations such as institutions, philosophy, the system of ranks, the educational program, uniforms, crest, etc.
Chapter 4 traces the period of meteoric expansion of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao (1964-1975) within national education, in the police, the army, in the ministry of rural development and in various state bodies. This period also saw the emergence of a new generation of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao masters, brightest men and women.
Chapter 5 is devoted to other more sectored historical elements, linked to Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao such as the origin of the various shields, the origin of the title of patriarch, the presentation of the thesis, the origins of the appellations "Vovinam" or "Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao" and the evolution of the organizational system from its creation to the present day.
Chapter 6 is exclusively devoted to the biography of the great masters who died, who worked for the development of Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao between 1938 and 1975.
